RE: Cary MB 2020
We are moving full speed ahead with the 2020 version of the Cary Marching Band. We are planning on doing 2 google meet sessions for both guard and percussion, though not at the same time. The 1st meeting is for the veterans to get back in touch with each other and with their staff. The staff will discuss their plans and how you can help recruit new members. The 2nd meeting will be for all of you WITH the new members. We will discuss what the new people can expect in terms of auditions, what the season might look like (of course, up for change as events unfold), and also for the newbies to virtually “meet” all of you! New marchers will stick around if they have something invested in it. The best way to get them hooked is to get them excited about adding more friends to their friend list, so basically, YOU are the best advertisement.
All google meet sessions will be held here - https://meet.google.com/zbd-nyqf-obr?pli=1&authuser=0
THURSDAY, APRIL 30th - LEADERSHIP MEETING - 1:00-1:45 *NOTE CHANGE
THURSDAY, APRIL 30th - PERCUSSION - 2:00pm-2:30pm - for all veteran percussion students (both fall and indoor groups)
FRIDAY, MAY 1st - COLOR GUARD - 2:00pm-2:30pm - for all veteran color guard students (both fall and indoor groups)
THURSDAY, MAY 7th - PERCUSSION - 2:00pm-2:30pm - for all, ESPECIALLY the new percussion students.
FRIDAY, MAY 8th - COLOR GUARD - 2:00pm-2:30pm - for all, ESPECIALLY the new color guard students.
For the hornline (all woodwinds and brass), we will begin our recruitment process after May 8th. It’s a little easier to set those lines as most students already are playing their instruments for marching band. But we will set up a big google meet for all winds, and then give the leadership hornline people a chance to have a “break away” google meet with their sections.
We have no idea what the future will hold, but the bottom line is we need to be positive and go with the flow. I don’t know for sure what the season will look like with closing/not closing/restrictions/etc. BUT, I do know that the Cary Band is the most resilient group of parents and students ever. Let’s keep moving forward together!
