Cary Band Curriculum - 4/6/2020
Hello Cary Band!
This is the first lesson that we will be looking at together. There are 2 videos from my friend Scott Lang.
Unit 1 is an introduction, not much reading, no PDF questions. Please watch that here - http://joinsll.com/leadership-university-unit-1-introduction/?inf_contact_key=fd0418396afaa74d6317b93db136435c1b0a3f0fd3ee5d9b43fb34c6613498d7
Unit 2 talks about “What music teaches us”. So, watch the brief video, read the article below it. Open that here - http://joinsll.com/leadership-university-unit-2-what-does-music-teach-us/ . If you are interested in being a part of the leadership team for the marching band, please fill out this Google Form - https://forms.gle/Q21vx79ZV8W6c6CA6 with answers to the questions brought up in the video and reading.
Also, make sure you are all plugged into SmartMusic. Let’s keep our “musical chops” going during this break from being together. We will be using that program for playing assignments. As one student pointed out to me, it’s almost like the game “guitar hero”. It’s a fun way to keep playing, and there are so many songs you can find and play!
Lastly, we will have 2 google meetups this week. Tuesday from 10:00-10:30, and Thursday from 10:00-10:30. Google Meet Link is here - https://meet.google.com/zbd-nyqf-obr?pli=1&authuser=0. The Tuesday meeting is optional, and it is open for anyone to talk and ask questions about anything to me: school/band/grades/life/future/etc. The Thursday meeting is for anyone who is interested in the marching band leadership. We will dive deeper into the questions in the google form, and have some open ended talks on how we can all help to make the Cary Band even better. Those times will change next week based on the new Cary HS distance learning schedule. I will figure those times out and post soon.
Here is a link to the google doc we talked about last week for your references - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FmXIznIy_3ykqo5AGliH2izubLxEzbMEX1-3C-vNXwU/edit?usp=sharing . Hope you enjoy the videos and readings, and spend time with your instruments. They (the instruments) and I miss you very much.
PS - I can't wait to see your videos from Tuesday at 12. #TownOfCaryPorchBand
