Cary Band Curriculum - 4/29/2020

Happy Wednesday!  Great discussion yesterday with our google meet.  Here’s a quick breakdown of what we discussed:

  • Cameras on

  • Microphones off when we all play

  • Mr. Foster might ask individuals to play, so mic on then

What will we play?

  • Blue book warmups

  • Scales

  • Tunes from the blue and green book.  If you can use them via SmartMusic, awesome.  If not, I’ll send a PDF in the comments section for you to open and play with.

  • Audition placement music - TBD

Times for each (this is all 9th, 10th, and 11th grades)

  • Monday - Flutes - 1:00-1:30

  • Tuesday - Clarinets and Bass Clarinet - 1:00-1:30

  • Wednesday - Saxophones (all) - 1:00-1:30

  • Thursday - Trumpets and French Horns - 1:00-1:30

  • Friday - Low Brass (Trombone/Baritone/Tuba) - 11:00-11:30

  • Friday - Percussion - 11:30-12:00

  • Thursday Google Meet - @ 2:00pm.  Review what the video assignments have been teaching us.  Bring your own questions to the table.  Don’t forget that I’d like to have your 20 second videos in my hands soon.  I’m making a welcome video for 8th graders this week.  During this google time, I will begin talking/showing you the process we will use for drum major selections.

Video for today - discussion about the subject that makes EVERYTHING work.  Please check it out!

Miss you guys.  I miss playing the basics like making a concert F sound awesome with a great attack, sustain, and release.  I miss hearing the ring of our band room after a really in tune chord.  Miss hearing clean percussion beats.  I miss seeing and being amazed by our color guard performing with energy and passion.  I miss enjoying all those things with you guys.  Hope we can be together soon.
