Concert and Symphonic Bands
Symphonic Band (Band III and IV honors) is a band class that requires and audition for placement. For specific audition requirements see the director. Class focuses on fundamentals of instrumental music; good tone, pitch articulation, music reading, ensemble playing. The focus is the same as concert band just at a more advanced level. Students perform several concerts with this class and a wide variety of music. After school commitments are usually limited to performances and possible sectional rehearsals as needed.
Concert Band (Instrumental Band I and II) is a band class that does not require an audition and is open to any student regardless of grade level. Pre-requisites of previous band experience such as middle school band or other high school band or private lessons are usually required. Someone interested in starting an instrument should speak with the director prior to registration. Class focuses on fundamentals of instrumental music; good tone, pitch, articulation, music reading and ensemble playing. Students will annually perform in at least one concert per semester. After school commitments are usually limited to performances and possible sectional rehearsals as needed.
