Fundraisers

The Cary Band Boosters undertake many fundraising activities to earn the money needed to operate the band. Most of our fundraisers are profiled below. The way funds are allocated form each fundraiser varies. Most fundraisers allocate a large percentage of the funds raised to a student’s individual assessment and a small percentage to the general fund of the band. Some of the fundraisers go completely to the general fund.

Grocery Cards

When using these grocery cards, a large percentage of the sale goes to your individual assessment and a small percentage goes to the general fund. Percentages vary by card.

  • Lowes Food (this card can be purchased once and then reloaded) – 5.4% of of each dollar purchased goes toward your personal assessment
  • Food Lion (these card must be re-purchased each time) – 4% of of each dollar purchased goes toward your personal assessment

When using these grocery cards, 100% of the store’s donation goes to the general fund.

  • Harris Teeter VIC Card (you must relink your card each August with Harris Teeter using code 4971) – 100% of the donation goes to the general fund

Items to Sell

When selling these items, a large percentage of the sales goes to your individual assessment and a small percentage goes to the general fund. Percentages vary by sale.

  • Go Play Save Coupon Books – each book sold earns $13.50 toward your personal assessment
  • Poinsettias
  • Fruit and Nut – 50% of the sales go toward your personal assessment
  • Yankee Candles
  • World’s Finest Chocolate – 50% of the sales go toward your personal assessment
  • Mattresses – varies depending on the size of the mattress sold ($50-$150 per mattress)

Earning While You Shop

These services allow you to use popular online retailers to earn money for your assessment and for the band.

  • Scrip – 80% of the rebate goes to your personal assessment, 20% goes to the general fund
  • Amazon Smile – 100% of the donation goes to the general fund

Working to Fund Raise

The following opportunities allow you to work at events to earn money toward your assessment. When working these events, a large percentage of the sale goes to your individual assessment and a small percentage goes to the general fund. For each of these events you will earn approximately $9 per hour toward your personal assessment. For each event you will earn a minimum of $36. There is also the potential for year-end bonuses which will be split among the workers’ personal assessments if specified sales goals are reached. $1 per hour goes to the general fund.

Earning While You Eat

The Cary Band Boosters hosts Dine Out nights regularly at local restaurants. When ordering, if you tell them you are from the Cary Band, a portion of your bill will go to the general fund.

Working to Raise Money for the General Fund

We have several events throughout the year where we sell items or host events to raise money for the general fund.

  • Lazy Daze (selling water) – 100% of the funds go toward the general fund
  • Spring Daze (selling water) – 100% of the funds go toward the general fund
  • All-District Tryouts – 100% of the funds go toward the general fund
  • Cary Band Day – The single biggest fundraiser of the year! – 100% of the funds go toward the general fund
